Kids & Safety

EXPLR is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of children and complying with all applicable laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and international standards where applicable.

  1. Children’s Privacy & COPPA Compliance
Our services are intended for students ages 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 without verified parental consent.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our systems.

  2. Age Requirements
Children under 13 may only access EXPLR services through a parent or guardian’s account.

Users between 13 and 16 may access EXPLR independently where permitted by applicable law.

Users must be 13 or older, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, to create an individual account without parental oversight.

  3. Parental Consent Process
To comply with COPPA and protect minors, we may verify parental consent through one of the following:

    • Credit card verification and a nominal, non-refundable charge

    • Signed consent form

    • Other approved, verifiable methods as allowed by law

Once verified, a child’s personal information is protected under our Privacy Policy.

  4. Parental Rights
Parents and legal guardians have the right to:

    • Review the information collected from their child

    • Request that their child’s data be edited or deleted

    • Withdraw consent for further data collection

To exercise these rights, please email hello@explr-media.com. We will take steps to verify the identity of the requesting parent before acting on such requests.

  5. Use of Data Collected from Minors
We only collect the minimum amount of personal data necessary to:

    • Provide access to content and features

    • Enable credentialing or participation in learning challenges

    • Deliver a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate experience

We do not sell children’s data or use it for targeted advertising.

  6. Educators Acting on Behalf of Parents
In school-based settings, educators may act in place of parents to provide consent for student participation in EXPLR services, as permitted under COPPA.

    Educators must ensure that:

    • The use of EXPLR complies with school policies and applicable privacy laws

    • Parents are informed about the services being used and data practices

  7. Additional Compliance Measures
We regularly review our policies and systems to ensure COPPA compliance.

We partner only with third-party providers who adhere to equivalent child privacy standards.
